Migration Utilities
Wombat provides a number of generic migration or "Bridge" components that
allow data to be transferred between different market data systems,
protocols, formats, etc.
In order to help migration from a legacy market data platform to the Wombat
market data system, applications that can bridge the two systems may be
useful. Not only is it useful to import data from the legacy system to the
new system, it may also be useful to export data from the new system back to
the legacy system. An example of the latter is when there are some
applications on the legacy system that are taking a long time to migrate to
the new system but some/all feeds to the legacy system have already been
turned off (or have been moved over to the new system.
As alluded to earlier, such migration utilities for bridging a legacy system
and a new market data system are built very straightforwardly using the PAPA
and MAMA modules. Just as different PAPA implementations can publish data to
different market data platforms, different MAMA implementations can
subscribe to data from different market data platforms. By combining various
PAPA and MAMA modules, Wombat can provide bridges to/from any supported
market data system or middleware.
Wombat can provide bridges between any MAMA platform and any of the
platforms supported by the PAPA API. We also have a number of custom bridge
components that firms can use to push internal data onto Wombat from other
platforms including native TIBCO Rendezvous and TIB Classic.
A full list of platforms and formats currently supported by the PAPA API is
available on-line.
