PAPA

Wombat has been using the PAPA (Platform Agnostic Publishing API) internally for a number of years. In essence, all platform & format specific publishing functionality is packaged behind the scenes in the PAPA modules. In this structure porting feed handlers between platforms often only requires a recompile. Alternatively, to migrate the entire feed handler suite to a new platform, we simply migrate PAPA to a new platform. This is one of a number of ways that the Wombat modular code base can be leveraged to provide powerful solutions.

In early 2004 PAPA has been released to a number of customers as a product in its own right for use in publishing internal data. It provides and off the shelf application framework for building "heavy-weight" publishing
applications, for example to create internal data feeds. Many of the general features of the Wombat Universal feed handler suite are provided with PAPA. These include the ability to support initial values, caching, streaming and snapshot subscriptions, subscription management, fault-tolerance, admin interface, logging, and many other generic publisher functions.

The market data platforms, formats and protocols currently supported by PAPA are listed on-line here.

A list of the hardware supported by PAPA is available on-line here.
